ADVANCED
LIFE SUPPORT (ALS)
Since 1986, our Advanced Life Support (ALS) vehicles are staffed with two Massachusetts
certified Paramedics who have the highest degree of advanced training available
for emergency and inter facility transportation. We run 4 paramedic units twenty-four
hours a day and seven days per week. All Paramedic units are large box style
ambulances equipped to handle any medical condition. We are the leader in advanced
medical care. Our highly trained paramedics are trained in the following;
• Advanced Airway Management
• Intravenous Therapy
• Medication Administration and Monitoring
• 12 Lead Cardiac Monitoring, Pacing, and Cardioversion
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Advanced Pediatric Life Support (PALS)
BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)
Since 1983, our Basic Life Support (BLS) vehicles are staffed with two Massachusetts
certified emergency medical technicians (EMT’s), who are trained to care
for the injured or sick. Our EMT’s have been trained to assess a patient’s
condition, manage respiratory, cardiac, and traumamatic emergencies. We run
8 BLS units on a daily basis. Our highly trained EMT’s are trained
in the following;
• Defibrillation
• Pulse Oximetery
• Oxygen therapy
• Assisted Albuterol
• Nasal Narcan – Coming Soon
CHAIR VAN TRANSPORTATION
Our chair van attendants are CPR certified by the American Heart Association.
Our chair vans meet all federal guidelines of the Americans with Disabilities
Act (ADA). Chair van services are available Monday through Friday 7:00am to
5:00pm. Other times are available by making an appointment 3 days advance in
most instances. Our fully equipped fleet of non-emergency chair van transportation
includes modern, hydraulically controlled chair vans designed to service the
special needs of our customers with care and comfort. Our chair car services
are as follows;·
• Hospital discharges
• Long and short-term transitional care facilities
• Skilled nursing & rehab centers
• Dialysis & radiation centers
• Geriatric day care centers
• Diagnostic imaging centers
• Physician office visits
SHIFT COMMANDER
Northshore Ambulance provides this unique service for its 911 contracts
and contracted facilities. A Shift Commander is on-duty 24/7/365
available to handle any type of situation. They are Massachusetts
Certified Paramedics that can provide Advanced Life Support (ALS)
intervention. They are equipped with a portable radio and Nextel
phone for communications with our communications center. They are
REMSA trained and able to assume Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
command of a disaster at anytime. Our H2 is the primary class 5 ambulance
shift commander vehicle. This alterrain vehicle allows for easy access
into off road areas during a medical emergency and even has the capabilities
to transport from off road locations to the ambulance standing by.
